Frequently Asked Questions

What is Pray Lee County?

Pray Lee County is a county wide season of prayer for 40 days beginning August 10, 2009 and ending September 19th.  Our goal is to unite up to 100 or more churches in the prayers they pray for our county in seeking to access the promise of 2 Chronicles 7:14.

If My people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves, pray, seek, crave, and require of necessity My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land. 15 Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer offered in this place. AMP

In collectively calling the Church to it's knees, in unity, we seek the presence of God to heal our land.

Why are we praying for 40 days?

Jesus prayed and fasted for 40 days in the desert; during this time He was tempted in every way in order to get Him to turn from God.  Jesus modeled the way to defeat temptation and the Bible says, after 40 days, “the devil left him and angels came and attended him”.

Moses spent 40 days and 40 nights getting revelation from God more than once (Dt. 9:9 and 10:10).  Moses was prostrate before the Lord on behalf of the people.

The number 40 in the Bible, particularly in days/nights, leads us through seemingly enough time to purge evil and provides ample time to demonstrate to the Lord a broken and contrite heart centered on the benefit and welfare of others.

When does the 40 days start?

We begin on August 10th and go through 6:00 pm on September 19th.

Can any church or synagogue join?

Any church or synagogue can join with us that believes in Jesus Christ as Messiah.  Within the Eight Points of Prayer, we will be lifting up God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.  The prayers we pray respect no particular denomination—they are prayers to capture the heart of God and the heart of man—co-laboring in unity through the prayers that are prayed.

How does my church participate?

First, your pastor must agree to sign up; appoint a prayer coordinator for your church to recruit couples and others to select their hour of prayer for the 40 day period.  Your pastor can email us at info@praylee.org and we will contact him/her directly to answer any questions they might have.

What if my church is too small?  Can I still pray with you?

First, no church is too small.  Your church can join our team and we’ll then begin to recruit churches around you to help you complete your prayer team.  This is where unity can be such a powerful force as we all help each other fulfill God’s call in this season.

What should I pray for during my commitment time?

Your church will provide you with Pray Lee County’s Eight Points of Prayer in a training time or you can download them from our website.  You will want to study the points of prayer in advance of your time to pray.  Scriptures will be used and you’ll want to look some of them up in your Bible and/or add some of your own to your prayer time.

It is also very important to look at the prayer point of Praying the Sorrows of Others.  This section is where you’ll list people and needs to pray for and in particular, the neighbors on your street.   It will require more interaction with people to ask them what their needs are before we begin to pray for them.

Will there be someone to answer questions as we organize our church?

Yes, each district will have a District Leader to answer questions for the churches within their specific district.  The District Leaders will communicate with the Prayer Coordinators of each church.

What is a Prayer Coordinator?

Prayer Coordinator

Prayer Coordinators are typically members of the church in which they coordinate the filling of time slots for the 40 days of prayer.  Larger churches may have more than one Prayer Coordinator.

Responsibilities Before Prayer Launch:

  • Communicate to the church body, as directed by the pastor or leadership team of the church, the time slots to be filled for praying over the 40 days, covering 24 hours per day and everyday of the week and recruit people to fill those slots.
  • Prior to launch date, the Prayer Coordinator will work with their district leadership to train and equip people that have signed up for prayer.  Training guides will be provided.
  • Communicate to the District Leader on a regular basis of progress and challenges.

Responsibilities During Prayer Launch:

  • Collect the testimonies of what God is doing in the lives of those praying and of those for which they’re praying.
  • Communicate the testimonies through email to your district leader.  The district leaders will arrange for a countywide distribution of the stories of God to other churches to strengthen and encourage others.
  • You are more than an important part of the wheel—you are the wheel that propels this vehicle to God’s intended destination.

What is a District Leader?

District Leader

Serve the Prayer Coordinators within your district through encouragement, assistance in training those that will be praying and communication to the leadership team.  There will typically be 5-7 churches per district.  If there are more than 7 churches to a district, we will appoint an additional district leader to spread the responsibility to another.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Prayer Coordinators with training of the people praying; communication of successes and challenges to the leadership team; communication of the testimonies of people within their district to the leadership team and/or Zone Commanders.
  • Additionally, the District Leaders will seek to coordinate communication with the Senior Pastors of the participating churches to keep them in-tune with successes and challenges within the district.
  • The District Leaders are on the point to facilitate unity with the body of their district.  As a leader, it will be paramount that this position takes on an additional prayer assignment of intercession for those churches and pastors in their district.
